Figuring out the metro system seemed easy when the lady was explaining it at the airport. But boy was I wrong... I should have gotten to my hotel with 1 ticket and 2 metros. In reality I ended up buying 4 tickets, taking 6 different metros and walking around with 2 suitcases and a lot of frustration. There wasn't really anyone who could explain since the whole metrostation runs on machines and google maps wouldn't work. But luckily after a lot of (not so necessary) sightseeing I found my hotel for tonight!
It was still to early to check-in so I left my luggage there and went to look for a convenience store and a nice park to eat at...only the park turned out to be a cemetery with a playground in the middle of it. I ate my late lunch, checked in and went straight to bed for a couple hours.
(in the picture you can see my view at the park, It was very weird to eat lunch here but it was the only park nearby and there is an unwritten rule in Japan stating that it is rude to eat or drink while walking or standing on the sidewalk, you have to sit down)
After getting some much needed sleep I went out for dinner. I couldn't figure out the menus at a lot of restaurants and wanted something authentic Japanese. After looking at so many menus and even making a friend who was also trying to figure out where to eat I chose a random restaurant that smelled really good. Got my order on a ticket from a vending machine having no clue what I ordered sat down and waited. And wow! This was some of the best food I have ever eaten!
Everyone in the restaurant was completely silent and by themselves and I loved it, I read some brochures I got from my hotel and ate my ramen in peace. Went to get a hot tea from the convenience store and now I"m sitting in bed writing this blog with an amazing view over the city.
Thank you for reading and Ill post a new blog tomorrow!

Nice to read your first impressions. The metro system can be challenging indeed, I advise you to buy a SUICA card.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenSUICA cards are not available for purchase at the moment, they will start selling them again in June, the only way you can still use one is if you already have one to recharge.
