On Sunday I slept in.
Although I want to see and explore as much things as possible during the break, I also want to be really carefull with my health and not get sick. Since a lot of the kids in our class have been sick and I cannot afford to get sick in the middle of my internship.
After chilling in bed for a bit I made lunch. It was a very sunny day and on days like this it's quite sad that I have no option to eat outside. So after lunch I went to 7/11 for coffee and sat at one of the nearby parks to drink it.
I needed some dry-shampoo and conditioner so I descided to go to Don Quijote. It's this crazy store branch they have here in Tokyo that truly had everything, from skincare to fresh meat and from cutlery to bikes. There is not a single thing that you won't be able to find at Don Quijote. I had already been to the huge one in Shibuya and the one in Ginza but I saw on google maps that I actually have a smaller one really close to my student dorm. So I descided to go there by bike and get some stuff.
The bikeride was so nice, the weather was awesome and cycling with the sun on my face felt amazing.
Later that day I went out for dinner, I had not had sushi in more then a week so I really needed it!π I ate dinner, went home and then me and my mom called for a bit to catch up. It's crazy how those simple things like chatting for a couple minutes are the things you actually miss most.
On monday I had some special plans. A friend of my mom and dad has a good friend here in Tokyo, so he introduced us and we decided to meet up for dinner. The man was 70 years old but he sure didn't act like it haha. He also brought his niece and nephew who were about my age. He came to pick me up at my appartement and we drove to the restaurant. He has expensive taste because we went to a 10-course wagyu beef dinner in a private-room restaurant. I ate some things that were a little out of my comfort zone like brains, liver, tongue... but I also really enjoyed the other meat. It was such high quality that it just melted on your tongue the moment you put it in your mouth. We had a really nice conversation and although the niece and nephew didn't really speak English we managed trough translate.
When he drove me back home he asked me 'are you full?' and I was really full from all the amazing food. I asked him 'aren't you?' and he said 'no, I'm stil quite hungry. I might stop at 7/11 for a snack'. This was so funny to me because this man just paid sooo much money for a meal and he wasn't even full haha. So we stopped at 7/11 and had a coffee (and a snack for him). He dropped me of at home and already invited me to come to his house to meet his wife in a few weeks. It was a really nice evening and I'm so happy that I got to experience the Japanese culture in a way I would have never if I didn't meet him.
