Today we wanted to do some things with our Hakone-pass. We set our alarm early since the hotel breakfast was from 7a.m. until 8:45 a.m and somehow we slept right trough it.π
We headed to the bus station, struggled a bit to find it and eventually took the bus up the mountain. Hakone is known for having a very good view over Mount Fuji but since it was very clouded we didn't see anything.
They have a very popular dish up this mountain, a black egg that has turned black because of vulcanic smoke. But since you could only buy a pack of 4 eggs and I wasn't going to eat 4 eggs by myself I got some vacuum sealed ones to take home and try with my family.
After having a quick bathroom break I forgot my phone in there. We realized right before we got on a cable-car that was going down. Grandma was freaking out but knowing Japanese people I wasn't too worried. And when I went to the reception to ask them someone had already brought it in and they put a note on it saying 'found in toilet booth, at 11:23a.m.' The man behind the counter was about to make an announcement on the speakers when I walked in. Only Japanese people would act like this and I absolutely love it. πWe then took the cable-car down to a lake between the mountains. We (again) couldn't see much but it was still fun.
When we got to the lake we took a boat tour around the lake. The boat was very pirate style and super nicely decorated.
We had some 7/11 lunch and went back to our hotel. We stopped by some local shops to get some souvenirs on the way home and then chilled for the rest of the afternoon.
After dinner, I went into the Japanese Onsen. An Onsen is basically a Jaccuzi with water that's naturally heated by the warmth of the vulcano. I had to put on a traditional Yukata and cover my tattoo. Tattoos get linket to the maffia here so your not allowed to enter sacred places like Onsen, Temples.... when your tattoo is showing. Luckily it's only small and easy to cover. I bathed for about an hour and relaxed a little more after. It was such a nice and relaxing experience!
